Peter Judd defining a moment of his childhood during his presentation at the Benedict-Miler Mansion in Waterbury, Connecticut.

June 6, 2002
With severe weather threatening and an early darkness engulfing the neighborhood, Peter Judd, Shep Wild and about 30 additional hearty souls dared the "dires" of the evening and set forth upon a house tour that enlightened guests and returned a rush of childhood memories for Special Guest, Peter Judd.
Peter had grown up in Hillside at Number 54, now occupied by Shep Wild and in later years, the Judd family relocated just to the north of the property to 111 Buckingham Street.  111 is one of the two twin brick houses and is currently occupied my Bill Moran and Barry Lennon.

The walking tour centered on the Goss Estate at 70 Hillside Avenue as Shep Wild graciously opened his parents home to the entire tour.  Peter Judd was later to exclaim that though he lived immediately next door for so much of his life, this was the first time he had ever been inside the Goss home at 70 Hillside.

Standing Room Only!

All seating in the Grand Hallway of the Benedict-Miler House was occupied and a number of persons were left standing as Peter Judd commenced with his presentation.
The Great Depression was the catalyst which brought Mr. Judd's family to Waterbury to temporarily live with relatives in the upper floors of 54 Hillside Avenue.  The financial misfortunes of his parents, afforded the young Peter a new environment of spacious play areas of the adjoining estates of the area.

Kids Will Be Kids ...
"We broke the Carriage Light ... which terrified us!
... and did not know your mother was sitting on the porch and had seen everything"

Shep Wild
Above: Shep Wild enhances a humorous incident of his youth as it involved Peter Judd's mother.
Peter Judd spends a moment with Bill Moran discussing their "residence shared" though is be half a century apart.

On the lighter side :)

Appearances may indicate that the event was a perfect evening, but there were some "before" events that left volunteers with smiles on their faces.
After naming the event "Fireside Chat" and considering using the area directly in front of the massive mantle of the main foyer, college personnel placed a huge table at that end of the hall and instructed our group not to move it due to its extreme size.  Not only could we not use the fireplace, you could hardly see it.
Because another massive table was located in the second location for speaking, Mr. Judd was located in a beautiful spot with a grand view of the city as his background.  Unfortunately this was the poorest lighting in the entire building and left a difficult condition for the video, as they were shooting into bright lights of the background leaving Mr. Judd in quite a bit of a shadow.
Next time we really should give the speaker some light to read by :)
