Hillside and Mattatuck Museum begin joint venture
in organizing
Hillside Historic District Oral History Project.

March 16, 2002
Members of the Hillside Historic District "Education Committee" struck upon the concept of doing an "Oral History" project of Hillside residents past and present, and the histories of the historic homes in which they all live.
Committee chairperson, Marianne Vandenburgh, immediately contacted Marie Galbraith of the Mattatuck Museum, and Marie enthusiastically attended the following meeting of the Hillside Education Committee held at House on the Hill.
Current Education Committee members are: Shirley Walford, Maxine Watts, Joe Reynolds, Adele Stretchlum, Marianne Vandenburgh and Marie Galbraith.
Maxine Watts, the only committee person to have participated in the Mattatuck Museum Oral History Project for all Waterbury neighborhoods, introduced the addition of the neighborhood involvement of the domestic help of past residents.
The Mattatuck Museum is seeking funding via grants for this project and during this start-up period, the Hillside Education Committee members are developing a list of potential persons to interview once the project has begun.
If you, or your family, are connected to Hillside, let us know and we will add you to our growing list of participants.
Use the email link in the menu bar at the top of this page to contact us or use our online information form to register for an interview with the Hillside Oral History Project.  Thank you!
