This is the only hearth in the Hillside Historic District massive enough to have its own wood shingled roof ... inside the home! The photo at right only shows 12 feet up from the floor. There are several more feet above this view. No photo can do justice to the warmth of the woods or massive nature of 19th century, hand crafted hearth. This creation was custom made with all hand carvings and beveled glass mirrors. Cut stone completes the sense of mass on the face of the firebox. |
