OBJECTIVE #1
Install, upgrade and maintain sidewalks and lighting reflective of an historic
district
ACTIONS TO BE TAKEN:
- Identify problem areas targeted
for installation and maintenance
- Encourage homeowners to improve
outside lighting

OBJECTIVE #2
Reduce crime in the neighborhood, including addressing quality of life issues (see Health-objective 4)
ACTION TO BE TAKEN:
- Increase bike/foot/cruiser patrol
- Improved response time for class
A,B and C felonies
- Strategically located sub-station
- Request creation of an
anti-prostitution police team which will conduct periodic sting operations to arrest
prostitutes and johns; include confiscation of john's motor vehicle; devise means that
send a clear message to john's (through the media) to stay out of Hillside in particular
and Waterbury in general.
- Increase pressure by police on all
questionable behavior, even misdemeanors and minor infractions
- Request periodic speed traps on
Willow, Kellogg, Hillside, Pine and Woodlawn Terrace.

OBJECTIVE #3
Have City departments, including Police, Health, Fire, Animal Control, Zoning and
Refuse, act in a manner to address neighborhood public safety issues
ACTIONS TO BE TAKEN:
- Encourage enforcement of existing
regulations
- Request Mayor's office and Board
of Aldermen to direct City departments be responsive to neighborhood concerns
