EXECUTIVE BOARD - February 24, 2004

Executive Board Meeting-February 24, 2004; 6pm at House on the Hill

Present: Bill Moran, Thompson Curtis, Maxine Watts, Teresa Groshans, Marianne Vandeburgh, Marie Hayes, Shep Wild, Joe Reynolds, Moses Riddick, Hazel O’Neill

Tour de Connecticut

Discussion was held regarding upcoming Hillside March 9th meeting at Driggs school.  Meeting for Hillside board will commence at 6:30 pm , while general meeting will be at 7pm .  We will host John Eustice who will discuss the Tour de Connecticut to be held May 22nd.  Overlook, Crownbrook and Willow Plaza neighborhoods will be invited to attend meeting.  Jim Whitney will also be there.  The Visitors and Convention Bureau is the main sponsor of the event.

Refreshments will be provided by Thompson and Hazel, donut holes and cider, respectively.

Marianne suggested that Hillside make a banner for the race which could be reused (the Hillside Historic District portion).

Marianne suggested inviting the principals from Driggs and Kingsbury schools.

She also suggested that Moses contact a group that could provide Double Dutch Skipping entertainment along the bike route in our neighborhood.  Irish Step Dancers were also suggested.  The PTA could provide pizza and drinks for the kids, perhaps in the Driggs parking lot.

 Other

Maxine expressed a desire to have the lights on earlier at the Benedict Miller house; it was noted that it has been attempted but no one at the city seems interested in helping.

Bill noted he would like to have someone in charge of overseeing refreshements at our meetings – only the March 9th meeting was committed to.

Dues – several board member paid dues.  It was agreed that more attention needed to be focused in this area to produce more income.

Stepping Stone – Bill expressed concern over the usage of the additional beds at the facility.  Hillside members have not been included in any of the meetings/plans, but it was agreed that it seems like they are doing a good job on the construction.

It was discussed that the next meeting for April could be in regard to the Yeshiva and the Benedict Miller House.

Bill asked for assistance in keeping our meetings to the latest of 8:30pm .
